Old exam syllabuses

The old exam syllabuses are available for reference only. They may be suitable for testing officers or candidates who wish to check an old KDR reference. For example, for an exam completed before 01/09/2014 when Part 61 of CASR came into effect.

Do NOT use the old exam syllabus to study for the current version of an exam. If you are preparing for a current exam, refer to CASR Part 61 MOS, Schedule 3.

When checking a Day VFR (aeroplane) syllabus reference (for either PPL or CPL exams):

  • be aware that the first digit (is always either a 1 or a 2) indicates which 'block' of the aeroplane syllabus that item may be within.

The following is an example of the references:

  • A.2.7.1.1(b); H.7.1.1(b)
  • A = aeroplanes
  • 2 = Block 2 which commences on page 3-21 of the Day VFR (aeroplane) syllabus (whereas Block 1 starts on page 3-3)
  • 7.1.1 = Form of the Earth
  • Sub-item (b) latitude, longitude
  • H = helicopter
  • 7.1.1 = Form of the Earth
  • Sub-item (b) latitude, longitude
