CASA job selection process

Our recruitment and selection processes are fair and inclusive. We select suitable candidates through competitive, merit-based selection processes.

We embrace diversity and inclusion and provide reasonable adjustments to assist everyone to actively participate in our recruitment processes.

We conduct recruitment activities in line with the recruitment and selection directive and recruitment and selection manual.

Selection

All appointments within CASA are based on merit. Merit selection ensures the selection of the best available person for the position through open competition. Selection is based on the abilities, qualifications, knowledge, experience, standard of work, performance and personal qualities of a person, as is relevant to the requirements of the job.

Selection panel

Our selection panels consist of a minimum of two people. We aim for an appropriate gender mix where possible.

We use an affirmative measures process for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates and candidates living with disability.

Timeframes

The standard timeframe for the recruitment process varies for each job. Candidates can ask the contact officer what the expected timeframe is for filling the position.

Candidate selection

The selection panel assesses the match between candidates’ experience, qualifications, skills and abilities and the job requirements. Based on that, the selection panel then determines which candidates are shortlisted for further assessment (usually an interview).

We use various assessment methods to make sure we get the right candidates.

Reasonable adjustments at interview

We have an ongoing commitment to foster an accessible and inclusive workplace. We make reasonable adjustments to assist in removing barriers that prevent participation and help create a workplace that embraces and celebrates a diverse workforce.

Each candidate is asked if they require any reasonable adjustments when attending an interview.

Referees

You will need to provide details of 2 referees when you submit an application. Ideally, one of these should be your current supervisor.

The panel may contact referees at any stage of the recruitment process. We will not contact your referees without your permission.

Application progress

If you would like to check on the progress of your application, please call or email the contact officer for the role.

Selection process outcome

We will let you know of the outcome by email.

Merit pool

Following a merit-based recruitment process, we place suitable candidates in a merit pool. We may use the merit pool when the same or a similar position becomes vacant for up to 18 months after the original job was advertised.
